HEATING & AIR CONDITIONING

Hi and thank you for visiting Redlands and Henry Bush Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning on the web.  Today I have some great news for you!

On February 17, 2009, president Obama signed the “American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009” into law.  This bill combines spending and tax incentives designed to get the American economy moving forward by investing in infrastructure and increasing the energy efficiency of residential and commercial buildings in America.

This is great for our customers who are looking to replace their broken or aging and inefficient Heating and Cooling systems.

This legislation makes a number of important changes to the existing tax incentives for homeowners who make qualified improvements on items like high efficiency heating and cooling products in their primary residences.

Overall, the tax credits available have been increased to 30% of the installed cost of those improvements, or up to a total of $1,500 for residential products installed from January 1, 2009 through December 31, 2010.

This legislation has set some strict guidelines on the efficiency ratings for the qualifying products.

Split Heating and cooling systems must meet the Residential Advanced Tier 3 requirements of having a minimum EER of 13 and a SEER of 16.

Packaged Units must meet the Residential Tier 2 requirements of having a minimum EER of 12 and a SEER of 14.

If you do not have air conditioning and are replacing just your Natural Gas or Propane furnaces it must have an efficiency rating of at least 95% or better.

The great news is that we have equipment that meets or exceeds these standards.

Some Key Points to note about this legislation are:

  • Not all energy star rated equipment will qualify for this tax credit.  It must meet the efficiency requirement of the legislation.
  • The equipment must be "placed in service" between January 1, 2009 and December 31, 2010
  • The equipment must be for the taxpayers principal residence
  • The maximum credit amount is $1,500 in 2009 & 2010 for most home improvements.
  • When we install qualified equipment you will be given a Manufacturer Certification Statement.  Be sure to keep this and you receipts, as you will need them at tax time.
  • The Improvements made in 2009 will be claimed on your 2009 taxes buy completing IRS Tax Form 5695, the 2009 version which will be available in late 2009 or early 2010
  • And most importantly, I do know what equipment will qualify for this credit however, I am not an accountant and I don’t know your personal tax situation.  Please consult your accountant regarding how this tax credit will affect your personal situation.

Now I have saved the best news for last, Combine this Tax Credit with some other great rebates and incentive that we are currently offering and you could see up to $3,100.00 in saving on your new Energy Efficient heating and cooling system installed by Redlands and Henry Bush Plumbing Heating and Air Conditioning.  Now that is a great deal.
